Attention Stony Brook University Faculy and Staff: Applications for the second cycle of the President’s Fast Impact Fund (FIF) opened August 3, 2026. Open to all Stony Brook faculty and staff, this special initiative supports immediate-impact projects that can be launched quickly and deliver results within six to ten months.
The FIF provides awards of up to $300,000 focused on low‑investment, high‑reward initiatives that create visible, positive change. Examples of projects that would be considered include specialized equipment or technology acquisitions, pilot programs or proof‑of‑concept initiatives, targeted renovations or seed funding, among other opportunities.
All proposals must include a customized, high-level budget and be endorsed by the relevant vice president or dean with authority to implement the project. Applications for the August cycle will be available beginning August 3 with submissions due Friday, August 21 by 5 pm, ET. Please visit the Fast Impact Fund website for additional information and to submit an application.

[post_content] => The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists at a critical stage in their careers with grants of $60,000 each. Since 2003, we’ve awarded 70 postdoctoral women scientists over $3.5 million in grants. L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program is seeking five exceptional female scientists looking to advance their research and serve as role models for the next generation of girls in STEM.
Applications for the 2018 L’Oréal USA For Women in Science program are now open and are due by February 2, 2018.
Candidates are selected from a variety of fields including the life and physical/material sciences, technology (including computer science), engineering, and mathematics. Candidates must have completed their PhD and have started in their postdoctoral position by the application deadline.

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Stony Brook University is holding a free SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Writing Clinic July 13, 2016, followed by one-on-one counseling for in process SBIR/STTR proposals on July 14, 2016. Presented and instructed by Sharon Ballard of Enable Ventures, Inc. This clinic will hone your skills and help you to prepare proposals for Phase I or Phase II SBIR/STTR grants.
In order to participate in the clinic you must become a SBDC client. The SBDC will examine your proposed idea to make sure it will qualify for this program. Space in the July clinic is limited. The deadline for submission is June 17, 2016.
