Applications are now open for the 12th BioREACH Award Program from the Center for Biotechnology, which provides $50,000 in translational research funding for Stony Brook faculty and postdoctoral researchers to generate the evidence needed to advance promising innovations to the next stage of development.
BioREACH funds milestone-driven studies and welcomes biomedical innovations as well as platforms, tools, computational technologies, and other enabling technologies with the potential to contribute to solutions addressing unmet needs in health.
Application deadline: October 29, 2026, 5:00pm ET

The Center for Biotechnology (CfB) has helped advance some of Stony Brook University’s most impactful biomedical innovations, among them the yeast two-hybrid system, Xiaflex®, ReoPro®, Oracea®, and 3D virtual colonoscopy. The CfB has supported more than 475 faculty-led translational research projects and contributed to 306 license agreements generating $51 million in royalty returns to the University.

IndieBio NY is hosting an open call for consideration to be a part of its upcoming Spring 2024 Class 08 Cohort. If you are a founder building an early stage pre-seed biotech company that addresses a pressing human and planetary health problem, this may be for you.

FuzeHub will host its ninth New York State Commercialization Competition on October 29–30 during the 2025 NYS Innovation Summit in Rochester, NY.
Startups will compete for a share of $410,000 in funding—including awards of $150K, $100K, and $80K—to advance the commercialization of their innovative products or technologies.
Eligibility:
- Companies are required to have an existing tangible prototype
- Applicants must be available to pitch in person October 29-30, 2025 in Rochester, NY.
- Applicants must propose to fund activities to improve upon an existing tangible prototype and/or their “go-to-market” strategy.
- Company must reside and operate in New York State, and at least one founder must reside in NYS.
- Company must be pre-revenue.
- Company must be pre-seed.
- Company must be registered with Dun & Bradstreet, and have an eligible North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code specific to manufacturing identified in their D&B profile.
