Applications are now open for the 12th BioREACH Award Program from the Center for Biotechnology, which provides $50,000 in translational research funding for Stony Brook faculty and postdoctoral researchers to generate the evidence needed to advance promising innovations to the next stage of development.
BioREACH funds milestone-driven studies and welcomes biomedical innovations as well as platforms, tools, computational technologies, and other enabling technologies with the potential to contribute to solutions addressing unmet needs in health.
Application deadline: October 29, 2026, 5:00pm ET

The Center for Biotechnology (CfB) has helped advance some of Stony Brook University’s most impactful biomedical innovations, among them the yeast two-hybrid system, Xiaflex®, ReoPro®, Oracea®, and 3D virtual colonoscopy. The CfB has supported more than 475 faculty-led translational research projects and contributed to 306 license agreements generating $51 million in royalty returns to the University.

[post_content] => LifeSci NYC has announced the launch of the seventh year of its life sciences entrepreneur training and networking program - Entrepreneurship Lab NYC (ELabNYC). Applications for the 2019 program are now being accepted.
ELabNYC is a six-month entrepreneurship training and networking program for scientists and engineers who are ready to launch their exciting ventures from New York City–based research institutions. Applications are due Monday, October 22, 2018.

Did you know that the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) SBIR/STTR programs award over $2.6 billion in high-risk, non-diluted R&D funding annually to qualified small businesses?
Learn more about SBIR/STTR funding at this 1.5-day session focused on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) which will cover program essentials and how to compete for funding. Training will include:
– Current information on the SBIR/STTR programs
– Strategies for targeting your proposal to address the mission and requirements of the NIH
– How to approach each section of your proposal
– Planning your commercialization strategy
– Writing to meet the reviewers’ expectations

[post_content] => ASPR/BARDA is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to assist in understanding the developmental landscape of next generation blood products that could be used to treat mechanical trauma and bleeding associated with acute radiation syndrome and potentially supplement the blood supply in the wake of a mass casualty event such as a nuclear or radiological scenario. BARDA intends to use responses to this RFI for planning potential future acquisitions. BARDA seeks pertinent marketplace data to strengthen BARDA’s understanding of the current and future marketplace as well as enhance its ability to obtain quality services and products economically, and to efficiently and lawfully establish potential vendor source files and listings. BARDA will not award any potential contracts under this notice. This is strictly for market research.
