Applications are now open for the 12th BioREACH Award Program from the Center for Biotechnology, which provides $50,000 in translational research funding for Stony Brook faculty and postdoctoral researchers to generate the evidence needed to advance promising innovations to the next stage of development.
BioREACH funds milestone-driven studies and welcomes biomedical innovations as well as platforms, tools, computational technologies, and other enabling technologies with the potential to contribute to solutions addressing unmet needs in health.
Application deadline: October 29, 2026, 5:00pm ET

The Center for Biotechnology (CfB) has helped advance some of Stony Brook University’s most impactful biomedical innovations, among them the yeast two-hybrid system, Xiaflex®, ReoPro®, Oracea®, and 3D virtual colonoscopy. The CfB has supported more than 475 faculty-led translational research projects and contributed to 306 license agreements generating $51 million in royalty returns to the University.

[post_content] => LifeSci NYC has announced the launch of the seventh year of its life sciences entrepreneur training and networking program - Entrepreneurship Lab NYC (ELabNYC). Applications for the 2019 program are now being accepted.
ELabNYC is a six-month entrepreneurship training and networking program for scientists and engineers who are ready to launch their exciting ventures from New York City–based research institutions. Applications are due Monday, October 22, 2018.

[post_content] => Stony Brook University faculty researchers and graduate students involved in research may sign up for a free, 1-day workshop from 8:30-5 on either Aug. 12 or Aug. 15 with the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. Workshops are highly interactive and participants must stay the full day.
Alda Center workshops empower researchers to communicate their work clearly and vividly to all audiences. The Alda Center has worked with leading researchers from Yale, NASA, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and many others.
