A GLOBAL COMPETITION FOR EARLY-STAGE MEDICAL DEVICE AND BIOTECH STARTUPS
The goal of the $200K Challenge is to identify the most promising innovations that will move the needle in healthcare. They will be presented to a group of experts - industry partners, investors, product development experts, regulatory and quality experts, and medical, academic and business experts. The applicants whose innovations are deemed best will be awarded with in-kind services to advance their technologies.
The $200K Challenge is being sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Innovation, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, Amgen, Boston Scientific, Mintz Levin, MPR and R&Q.

[post_content] => The Center for Biotechnology is seeking one or more qualified and motivated high school students interested in learning about and supporting technology development and commercialization of new biomedical innovations on behalf of the Long Island Bioscience Hub (LIBH). The LIBH is a National Institutes of Health-designated Research, Evaluation, and Commercialization Hub (REACH), one of only three such centers in the country.
The LIBH supports the development and commercialization activities of its partner institutions including Stony Brook University, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Candidates for the Fellowship will have completed their junior year in high school, have a GPA of no less than a 3.0, and have an interest in exploring careers in a biomedical field. The Fellowship will run from July 6 - August 21. Some flexibility possible.
Interested candidates should send a one-page statement of interest detailing their academic accomplishments and describing what they would like to gain from the Fellowship experience, along with a transcript to:

Selection Process:
Deadline for application materials is May 31, 2015.
Additional admissions procedures (including interviews, by telephone or in person) may be required.
Notification:
Applicants will generally be notified by June 12, 2015. One-two applicants are expected to be selected.

[post_content] => The next round of Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants will open on May 1, 2019! Manufacturing Grants are designed to encourage collaboration between companies and non-profit organizations in New York State that work with the manufacturing industry.
Eligible applicants include New York State not-for-profit organizations and applicants must partner with a New York State small or medium sized (SME) manufacturer or other early-stage company with a project relevant to the manufacturing sector. For the purposes of this grant, SME is defined as a business with at least one physical establishment in New York State, and no more than 500 employees across the entire firm or enterprise worldwide.
Eligible projects will include those that are used by the applicant to assist companies with the following types of projects: adoption of new technology to enhance a process and/or product, Prototype development, Design for manufacturing, Proof-of-concept manufacturing, Manufacturing scale-up
Manufacturing-related equipment purchases [4] [5], and other projects to advance manufacturing or manufacturing capabilities
