Attention Stony Brook University Faculy and Staff: Applications for the second cycle of the President’s Fast Impact Fund (FIF) opened August 3, 2026. Open to all Stony Brook faculty and staff, this special initiative supports immediate-impact projects that can be launched quickly and deliver results within six to ten months.
The FIF provides awards of up to $300,000 focused on low‑investment, high‑reward initiatives that create visible, positive change. Examples of projects that would be considered include specialized equipment or technology acquisitions, pilot programs or proof‑of‑concept initiatives, targeted renovations or seed funding, among other opportunities.
All proposals must include a customized, high-level budget and be endorsed by the relevant vice president or dean with authority to implement the project. Applications for the August cycle will be available beginning August 3 with submissions due Friday, August 21 by 5 pm, ET. Please visit the Fast Impact Fund website for additional information and to submit an application.

[post_content] => The Center for Biotechnology is looking to recruit another BioEntrepreneur-in-Residence (BEIR). BEIRs receive a comprehensive package of incentives to build and lead new bioscience ventures in the Long Island, NY region.
In addition to senior staff support to assist with commercialization strategies, BEIRs will also have access to the resources of Stony Brook University including faculty expertise, core research and engineering facilities, libraries, business incubators, the 245 acre Research Park, and a suite of end-to-end economic development programs. Interested entrepreneurs should contact Diane Fabel with a statement of interest and resume, outlining how they would utilize these resources to build a successful bioscience company in the Long Island region. The BBCetc “From the Sources’ Mouth,” fall event is a free, virtual 3-day SBIR/STTR training with program managers from 11 federal agencies.
Each will present a 30-minute overview of their agency’s mission along with tips for creating a successful proposal. Everyone who attends will have time for Q&A as well as the opportunity to sign up for special one-on-one discussions with agency officers.
