Our colleagues at Envisagenics recently announced their strategic multi-year collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim to advance the development of next-generation oncology therapies. This partnership brings together Envisagenics’ SpliceCore platform for the discovery and validation of novel tumor-specific targets with Boehringer’s expertise in oncology drug development.

The agreement supports Boehringer Ingelheim’s oncology strategy of pairing bold modalities with novel, highly tumor-selective targets sourced through long-term partnerships. The collaboration builds on targets previously identified through Envisagenics’ proprietary SpliceCore® platform and will further validate their therapeutic potential across multiple therapeutic modalities, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), T-cell engagers (TcEs) and multispecific antibodies. Upon successful completion of the research program, Boehringer Ingelheim will have the option to exclusively license selected targets for further development and commercialization.

Envisagenics is eligible to receive more than US$1 billion in potential payments, including an upfront payment, research funding, option fees and development, regulatory and commercial milestones, plus royalties on future product sales.

The NIH is providing an opportunity for grantees to participate in an online entrepreneurial education platform aimed at teaching academic innovators methods to assess the commercial value of their biomedical technologies through our commercialization assistance program, Concept to Clinic: Commercializing Innovation Education (e-C3i). This program provides entrepreneurial education for investigators who are interested in better understanding the value of their innovation in addressing an unmet market need. The eC3i course is being offered to investigators with active (or in a No-Cost Extension through 9/23) NIH-funded research projects from participating Institutes and Centers.

All applications must be received no later than April 14th, 2023. Apply Today! Applications can be submitted to NIBIB-SBIR@mail.nih.gov. All NHLBI grantees are encouraged to contact us (nhlbi_sbir@mail.nih.gov) if you are interested in participating or have any questions about the application process. Learn more here.

The company describes Fertilome as the “first genetic screen that examines a woman’s genetic signature and how it may impact her reproductive health and ability to conceive, today and in the future.” Fertilome looks at 49 variants in 32 genes associated with a broad spectrum of female reproductive conditions. Information derived from the test could allow women to see a broader picture of their fertility, allowing for a more proactive approach to planning their family and overcoming fertility issues.
