Attention Stony Brook University Faculy and Staff: Applications for the second cycle of the President’s Fast Impact Fund (FIF) opened August 3, 2026. Open to all Stony Brook faculty and staff, this special initiative supports immediate-impact projects that can be launched quickly and deliver results within six to ten months.
The FIF provides awards of up to $300,000 focused on low‑investment, high‑reward initiatives that create visible, positive change. Examples of projects that would be considered include specialized equipment or technology acquisitions, pilot programs or proof‑of‑concept initiatives, targeted renovations or seed funding, among other opportunities.
All proposals must include a customized, high-level budget and be endorsed by the relevant vice president or dean with authority to implement the project. Applications for the August cycle will be available beginning August 3 with submissions due Friday, August 21 by 5 pm, ET. Please visit the Fast Impact Fund website for additional information and to submit an application.

The successful candidate can anticipate working closely with the Department of Biomedical Engineering as well as the Center for Biotechnology to ensure the course aligns with the certificate’s intent and the Center for Biotechnology’s objective of preparing students for careers in the biotechnology and life sciences industry.

The Center for Biotechnology on behalf of the Long Island Bioscience Hub is pleased to announce a request for proposals for our two-tiered technology development & commercialization program. Awards will be in two categories: Feasibility ($50k/12mo) and Proof of Concept ($100K/12 mo.) Details on the full funding program overview and proposal guidelines can be found here.
Faculty and postdoctoral associates, alone or in partnership with companies or CFB-appointed BioEntrepreneurs-in-Residence (BEIRs), are eligible to apply. In all instances, the faculty member or post-doctoral associate must serve as the principal investigator, and the project must be executed on the academic campus at Stony Brook University.
Application Deadline: Monday, July 18, 2022, 5pm ET

[post_content] => Traverse Biosciences, led by the CFB's first BioEntrepreneur-in-Residence Joseph Scaduto, has received a $1.3M Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Award in partnership with the School of Dental Medicine at Stony Brook University. Funding from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to Evaluate the Pre-Clinical Safety and Effectiveness of TRB-N0224 for the Treatment of Periodontal Disease. The research will be led by Lorne Golub, DMD, MD (Honorary) in the Department of Oral Biology and Pathology, and Ying Gu, PhD, DDS, in the Department of General Dentistry, who will serve as co-principle investigators on the award, in close collaboration with Traverse Biosciences.
